Value Creation & Materiality (Material Issues)
Value Creation Process
At OBC, we place the highest priority on human and intellectual capital. Therefore, we focus on recruiting and training to strengthen this human and intellectual capital, and drive our value creation process based on this capital.
The value creation process will help us to achieve our mission to “innovate business and excite customers” and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
Priority Issues for OBC
We consider key social issues such as the shrinking workforce, resource depletion, and respond to security needs to be risks to our business, and have identified the materiality (material issues) that we must address on a long-term, ongoing basis.
Materiality Selection Process
To select these material issues, we compiled an exhaustive list of issues while referring to international guidelines and other sources. We then evaluated them in terms of their importance to society and their importance to our company, and examined their level of importance.
The four key themes and selection of material issues were verified by the Management Committee, which consists mainly of company officers, while factoring in the appropriateness of their level of importance, and were ultimately approved by the Board of Directors.
